Biographie

 Dr Jean-Paul Ducrotoy - HDR - Reader Emeritus in Coastal Sciences and Management

 Expert scientifique en écologie marine et littorale, J-P Ducrotoy est Reading Professor Emeritus de l’Université de Hull – Royaume Uni. Diplômé de l’université française, son HDR (publiée par l’Agence de l’Eau Seine-Normandie) porte sur « la qualité écologique des milieux estuariens et littoraux ». Il enseigne à l’Université de Picardie Jules Verne (Amiens, France) où il est Chargé de Cours.

Revenu récemment en Picardie, ses thèmes de recherche portent sur les biocénoses benthiques des estuaires mégatidaux du Nord-Ouest de la France, sur l’évolution spatio-temporelle des faciès bio-sédimentaires, ainsi que sur les effets attendus du changement climatique global. Récemment, il a publié un livre sur la « Restauration écologique des estuaires » aux éditions Lavoisier (Paris). En 2013, une nouvelle collection de livres « Estuaries of the World » sera lancée par Springer sous sa direction.

Dans les années 1990, il a coordonné la rédaction du premier Rapport de Qualité de la mer du Nord en tant que Secrétaire Exécutif du Groupe d’Intervention Mer du Nord, au sein des Commissions d’Oslo et de Paris et du Conseil International pour l’Exploration de la Mer à Copenhague.

En tant que membre de l'Université de Hull, il poursuit sa collaboration avec l'Institute of Estuarine and Coastal Studies. Ses recherches sur le benthos débouchent sur des recherches opérationnelles qui intéressent les collectivités locales et les organismes nationaux et internationaux. Outre son appartenance au conseil scientifique du programme Liteau, il est également vice-président (chargé des affaires internationales) du conseil scientifique du programme Seine-Aval. Une autre facette de ses activités se révèle dans le travail qu’il réalise pour l’EMECS (Environmental Management of Enclosed Coastal Seas, Japon) dans le domaine de la diffusion des connaissances, notamment les « Schools and Students Partnerships ».
